The Big Bang Theory

Posted by Zack Powell

The BBT is an effort to explain the origin of the world and universe. Astronomical discoveries and physics have shown beyond a logical doubt that out universe and world did, indeed, have a beginning. It wasn't always here. Before that moment when the Big Bang occurred, there was nothing. When it started to get hot, and expand, that is when everything we see came into existence.

Going by the standard theory, around 13.7 billions ago our universe came into existence by a singularity. A singularity is a zone which are thought to be in the very core of a black hole.

If you're not too sure what a black hole is, it is an intense gravitational pressure that the stars, and possibly planets revolves around. We're not able to see an actual black hole because they're thought to be "invisible". However, close observations of the stars orbit shows to be a intense gravitational pull to it. Thus, the black holes are discovered.

Moving on from the subject of black holes, we're not too sure where it come from, why it appeared, or how it was created. We haven't gotten that far, yet.
After it's appearance, it inflated, expanded and started to cool. So therefore it went from hot, to the current temperature of our universe. It will continue to expand and cool, that is why the stars are moving farther away from Earth. Scientist suggest that it will continue to cool until the sun has a hypernova, which will end all existence as we know it; and, thus it will cause another black hole to form, another singularity, and another universe.

There are really quite common misinterpretations of the BBT. In fact, one of the most common is that of the title itself: The big "Bang". There was no bang or explosion involved in this. There was an expansion, not an explosion. One scholar suggests to imagine a balloon expanding until it gets to the current size of our universe.

Another common mistake that is made, is we imagine the singularity as a fireball that came into existence in space. Going by many astronomers and experts on this theory, there was no space before the expansion (big bang) occurred. In face, there was no energy, time, matter, or space before the big bang had occurred.

When the singularity started to get very hot (it is even hotter than our sun - 10,000 degrees), it started to expand. As it cooled, the gasses were mixed together in a chemical formula, thus creating planets Earth, Jupiter, Mars, and so on.

So in conclusion, the big bang theory is when a single singularity, perhaps smaller then a cell or an organism, started to heat, contract, expand, cool, and thus we now have our universe.
